Substitutions and Variations

  • Liquid Smoke - Smoked paprika
  • Minced Garlic - Use garlic powder instead
  • Tomato Sauce - Use ketchup instead, we've done it on more than one occasion and result is definitely sweeter so you may want to reduce sugar.
  • Steak - This barbecue sauce tastes great on regular hamburgers or air fryer hamburgers or all cuts of beef.
  • Spicy -Add a teaspoon of chili pepper flakes, jalapeno powder, smoked jalapeno powder, orchipotle powderto the sauce mixture to add some heat, if desired. I will also occasionally add a teaspoon ofour homemade hot pepper sauce, or use your favorite hot sauce, to the sauce mixture.

Storage

Refrigerator: Store for up to a week in an air-tight container.

What to Serve with Steak Sauce

Of course, you'll want to top your steak with this sauce. But you can also top baked potatoes with it, as well. It also makes a great dipping sauce or recipe addition.
